If you answered yes, those symptoms could be due to poor thyroid functioning. What is your thyroid and why is it so significant?
Your thyroid gland is the butterfly-shaped gland in your neck that’s in charge of your metabolism. It controls heart, muscle, and digestive function, bone maintenance, and brain development. When your thyroid isn’t functioning best, it affects your entire body and mind.
The symptoms noted above are things many women I work with have experienced – and even some men. I understand because I had extreme fatigue for years, digestive issues, weight problems, And sadly, I lost three babies to miscarriages. I went to doctor after doctor, and they ran some labs but said they’re “normal.” However, for me the labs were not optimal for my body. I needed thyroid medicine. And it’s not a one and done thing. I still have to get my labs checked regularly, and the medication adjusted. Plus, I’ve learned what foods are better for my thyroid and which lifestyle modifications are helpful.
If you’re having any of these symptoms, you’re not alone. Click here for a free thyroid checklist that includes what labs to ask your doctor to order for you. (Hint – you need more than just a TSH.) Remember, you are your own health advocate. Your thyroid gland is too important for your health to NOT take it seriously.
