It’s Not Your Mindset, It’s Biology

Before you say, “I just need more discipline, more willpower.” Before you think, “Why can’t I get it together?” Remember this. Your health and wellness may not be optimal because….

It may be biology.

Because what if your problem isn’t motivation or discipline, what if it’s something your body is asking for? Such as vitamins and minerals.

I want to gently tell you today…

👉 You are NOT lazy.
👉 You are NOT lacking discipline.

There’s a very real chance your body is simply depleted.

This is something I see all the time with the women I work with, especially for those over 40 and 45.

They are doing ALL the things…
Taking care of everyone else…
Trying to eat healthy…
Pushing through their day…

But inside, they feel:

  • Exhausted
  • Irritable
  • Unmotivated
  • Foggy

And they start to believe something is wrong with them.

And they assume it’s

  • Hormones
  • Stress
  • Not trying hard enough

When in reality:
👉 their body is running on empty.

Why This Happens

As we move into perimenopause and menopause, a few things happen:

  • Our nutrient needs actually go UP
  • Our absorption can go DOWN (especially with gut issues like IBS)
  • Chronic stress depletes key nutrients even faster

So even if you’re eating ‘pretty healthy’…
👉 your body may still be lacking what it needs to function well.

And when your body is depleted, Your brain feels it. Your mind feels it. Your body feels it.

And this affects all areas of health — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Common Deficiencies

I want to highlight a few key nutrients that directly impact your mood and energy:

👉 Magnesium

  • Calms the nervous system
  • Helps with sleep, anxiety, irritability (and also regularity of digestion)

👉 B Vitamins

  • Support energy, focus, and brain function
  • Low levels = fatigue, brain fog, low motivation

👉 Omega-3s

  • Support mood and reduce inflammation
  • Low levels linked to depression and mood swings

👉 Iron (especially for some women)

  • Needed for oxygen and energy
  • Low levels = exhaustion, weakness, poor focus, feeling drained

So if you’re feeling:

  • Drained
  • Overwhelmed
  • Unmotivated

👉 it may not be mindset…
👉 it may be biochemistry.

Mood Buster

I always want to give you something simple you can start with right now.

Here’s your Mood Buster for this week:

👉 Add ONE magnesium-rich food daily. Most adults needs about 310 – 420 mg per day. And we absorb about 30-40% from foods. So start with food. You can also add a magnesium supplement such as magnesium glycinate, too.

Some easy options:

  • Leafy greens (such as spinanch)
  • Pumpkin seeds (raw organic, soaked, and roasted or dehydrated)
  • Almonds (same as above)
  • Avocado (1 has 58 mg of magnesium)

This is a small step, but small steps done consistently help rebuild your body.

Low Energy is Not

Remember:

Low energy is NOT a personality flaw

Low motivation is Not a character issues.

It’s often simply a biological signal.

I really want you to hear this part…

👉 You don’t need more willpower.
👉 You don’t need to ‘try harder.’

You need to support your body differently in this season,

Because when your body is nourished…
👉 your energy improves
👉 your mood stabilizes
👉 your motivation returns naturally

That’s how God designed your body.

Don’t overcomplicate it. Just start nourishing your body consistently.

Faith Integration

And I also believe this.

We’re not meant to live in constant exhaustion and burnout. God didn’t create us that way.

Your body is not working against you. It’s communicating with you.

And sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is:

  • Slow down
  • Listen
  • Nourish
  • And invite God into our healing process

If this is resonating with you, and you’re thinking, ‘This is me… I feel depleted…’

I want to invite you to take the next step.
